Compensation

$15.03

TEMPORARY additional differential of $4/hr for all hours worked. 

* Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.


Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:  This position is a mechanical and electrical work performing the installation, maintenance, and repair of large tonnage refrigeration and air conditioning systems and related air handling equipment, which includes reciprocating, absorption, and centrifugal a/c units, in a manner which provides a safe and therapeutic environment for quality care of all the agency’s consumers. Changing of filters and assisting an a/c tech senior is a large portion of this position.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

Repair and Maintain

  • Large tonnage air conditioners
  • Walk-in freezers/coolers
  • Chillers and condensing units
  • Air handlers
  • Electric controls
  • Pneumatic controls
  • Residential furnaces
  • Dampers
  • Control air compressors
  • Boilers/environmental controls
  • Blower motors
  • Microprocessors
  • Heat control systems
  • Residential air conditioners

Replace and Install

  • Compressor in refrigerators
  • Condensate and evaporator fan motors
  • Compressors in walk-in freezer/coolers
  • Air conditioners (window units)
  • Electric igniter
  • Thermostats
  • Piping systems for a/c

Preventive Maintenance

  • Fan coil units
  • H/C circulating pump motors
  • Air handling units
  • AHU control exhaust fans
  • Air compressors
  • Air dryers
  • Walk-in freezer/cooler
  • Chill water mixing valves
  • Ice machines
  • Unit heaters
  • Boilers for environmental control
  • Other assigned pm’s

Miscellaneous Electrical Department Activities

  • Safety training
  • Toolbox meetings
  • Knowledge and skills training
  • Supervises inmate labor
  • Subject to callback, standby, irregular hours, and scheduled weekend duty

 


Qualifications

Licensing and Certification:  

  • EPA Refrigeration Reclamation Certification six months after being hired on

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Valid Kansas Driver’s License with no restrictions
  • EPA Refrigeration Reclamation Certification six months after being hired on

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Prefers 1 year experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of refrigeration and air conditioning systems

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:  

  • Ability to pass a KBI background and pre-employment drug test
