TEMPORARY additional differential of $4/hour for all hours worked.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:  This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of the physical plant and grounds, specifically the electrical distribution system, and security surveillance system, in a manner which provides a safe and therapeutic environment for the quality care of all agency customers.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

Supervises Staff

  • Assigns daily activities
  • Completes PRFs
  • Maintains records for timekeeping
  • Provides in-service training to department employees.
  • Enforce LSH and KDAD Policies and Procedures

Participates in Daily Electrical Department Assignments and Projects

  • Maintains and repairs high voltage equipment
  • Maintains and oversees fire alarm and P.A. systems.
  • Subject to callback, standby, and irregular hours.
  • Maintains and repairs security surveillance system.
  • Responsible for overseeing the completion of all Electric Department P.M.’s

Coordinates Activities

  • Schedules daily activities to assure compatibility between departments.

Job Estimates

  • Prepares daily job estimates.
  • Procures materials for needed projects.

Facilitate Regulatory Requirements

  • Monitor & facilitate training and assure the electrical department is operating within OSHA guidelines/requirements; LOTO, PPE, Confined Space, Stairway & Ladder Training.
  • Monitor & facilitate training and assure the electrical department is operating within NEC/NFPA guidelines/requirements; Flash Hazard Work Permit, Flash Hazard Protective Clothing, Arc Flash Hazard Boundary, Electrical Job Safety Analysis, Arc Flash Program/panel labeling, Periodic Inspections of Energy Control Procedures.
  • Assure all equipment maintained by/for by LSH meets all Life Safety Code requirements.
  • Monitor & facilitate training and assure the electrical department is operating within KSFM guidelines/requirements; Smoke & Fire Penetration Sealant Training & installation, Smoke/Fire Alarm system testing requirements, Fire Sprinkler System testing requirements, assure that exit/emergency lighting & corridor lighting requirements are maintained.


Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Five years of experience in the mechanical or building trades.  Education may be substituted as determined relevant by the agency.
  • Valid Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • 1 year of experience in electrical and electronics systems, specifically interpreting electric system plans, electrical equipment, schematic diagrams, and code requirements in a large facility.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:  Ability to pass a KBI background and pre-employment drug test.
